On Friday evening, GHSNC passed the following resolution as a statement of solidarity with nationwide protests.

As members of the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, we are committed to advocate for the needs of everyone in our community. Today, our community needs our support now more than ever.

We believe that Black Lives Matter. The senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other black Americans due to the corrupt system of structural racism that exists within this country cannot be tolerated any longer. We believe that these walls of inequality must be torn down.

We stand with community leaders calling for reform that puts the lives of people first. We join the calls to reprioritize our investments in community programs, education and social services.  We believe that the diversity in our communities is the fabric forming the tapestry of this country: in order for our community to thrive, we need inclusive, compassionate, and humane constructs.
