Six years after the methane blowout at SoCalGas Company’s Aliso Canyon Storage Facility, new regulations are currently being drafted to require that moving forward, operators of gas storage wells provide a complete chemical inventory of the materials that may be emitted from the well in the event of a reportable leak. When it comes to issues of public health and safety, our citizens deserve full transparency about chemicals they may be exposed to. The public is invited to submit comments on the draft regulations found here until November 12, 2021.
