The San Fernando Valley is no stranger to intense heat waves as this past week has demonstrated. With July bringing in some of the hottest days of the year so far, it is important to be informed of all heat-related safety tips and resources especially as temperatures are expected to continue rising over the weekend:

- If you are looking for a place to cool down and escape the sun, remember that ALL Los Angeles City libraries double as cooling centers. Follow this link to see the full list of the city’s libraries.
- Both the Mid-Valley Regional Branch Library, located at 16244 Nordhoff Street, 91343, and the West Valley Regional Branch Library, located at 9036 Vanowen Street, 91335, will be open on Sunday from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
- The Canoga Park Senior Center, located at 7326 Jordan Ave, 91303 will have extended hours starting today through Sunday. Operating hours are from 10:00am – 9:00pm.
